Brian Vandenberg is stepping down as general counsel at the American Medical Association to serve as general counsel and chief administrative officer of a new health care provider focusing on rural patients.

San Francisco-based Homeward launched Monday with $20 million in funding and several former executives of Lovingo Health at the helm, including Vandenberg. He was general counsel of Lovingo, a provider of diabetes monitoring and remote monitoring, from 2014 and 2017. The company was acquired by telehealth giant Teladoc for $18.5 billion in 2020.
