A federal prosecutor who litigated against members of former Gov. Chris Christie’s administration in New Jersey’s “Bridgegate” scandal joined Arnold & Porter Kaye Scholer’s Newark office this month amid the firm’s hiring spree of former government attorneys.

Lee Cortes rejoined the firm as a partner on March 14 after 14 years in the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of New Jersey. As a federal prosecutor, Cortes gained experience in cases ranging from health care fraud to public corruption after he started his legal career in 2003 as an associate at Kaye & Scholer, a premerger firm to Arnold & Porter.
