As Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer looks to increase its footprint in the U.S., it’s at the same time trying to lower the environmental footprint of New York City, where the firm’s American presence is at its strongest.

Freshfields on Thursday is releasing a detailed proposal to make New York a “circular city,” one that would reduce waste to zero by 2030 and create 11,000 new jobs. The report on the New York Circular City Initiative had initially been scheduled for release in March, but COVID-19 not only delayed the launch, it also prompted a new look at the researchers’ underlying assumptions.
