After Louisiana’s 19th Judicial District Court decided in September 2022 that Formosa Plastics Corp. failed to prove that construction of a $9.4 billion industrial complex would not cause environmental damage, the group expressed disagreement and indicated plans to push through the “Sunshine Project” in the state’s St. James Parish.

Now, the group has seemingly been vindicated after Louisiana’s Court of Appeal, First Circuit, reversed the decision and reinstated 15 permits allowing it to proceed.
