The American Civil Liberties Union is dedicating significant resources to state supreme court litigation, hiring two senior staff attorneys to work with ACLU state affiliates and local litigators on civil rights issues in state courts.

The organization has hired Julie Murray and Matt Segal as senior staff attorneys in its new State Supreme Court Initiative, which aims to find opportunities to advance civil liberties through state constitutions rather than at the U.S. Supreme Court.
