An Ohio attorney has resigned from the state bar in the midst of disciplinary proceedings for allegedly neglecting a client facing foreclosure, moving to another state without telling her and failing to repay fees he collected from her.
Timothy Dougherty, whose last business address was in Las Cruses, New Mexico, was alleged by state ethics authorities to have neglected Connie Cline in a foreclosure proceeding initiated by CitiMortgage Group in August 2017 despite having collected $2,000 in fees from her. Dougherty was also accused of failing to cooperate with court orders to appear at depositions and respond to Interest on Lawyers’ Trust Accounts requests.
