President Joe Biden officially announced the retirement of Justice Stephen Breyer on Thursday and said he will name his choice of a successor before the end of February.
In his retirement letter to the president, Breyer said he would step down at the end of the current term, usually late June or early July, “assuming that by then my successor has been nominated and confirmed.”
