Georgia Appleseed had a roaring time at its Roaring for Justice fundraiser and Good Apple awards presentation on April 18 at Zoo Atlanta. The dinner event, which also featured a live auction, brought in $336,201 with 285 people attending, the organizers said. Juvenile Court Judge Amanda Heath of the Augusta Judicial Circuit was presented with the Individual Award for "setting the example for Georgia's courts on how to advance justice and equity for youth." The Carter Center Mental Health Program was presented a Community Partner award "for its leadership in expanding access to mental health services for children in Georgia and abroad." Georgia Power Foundation received the Corporate award for "their commitment to education equity for every child in Georgia." The "See Me: Pieces of Life From Youth in Care" art exhibit showcased art and descriptions "representing the lived experiences of Georgia's youth navigating the foster care system."
