Reed Smith announced Jalen Brown and Zainab Ramahi as the two winners for its Deborah J. Broyles Diverse Scholar Award in 2017. Brown, a Loyola University School of Law student, will join the firm’s 2018 Summer Associate Program in Chicago. Ramahi, a University of California, Berkeley, School of Law student, will join Reed Smith’s program next summer in San Francisco.
Intapp brought on Sanjeev Gandhi as vice president from PwC. Gandhi will lead as head of Intapp consulting group, and will work with law firms on technology, data, and management strategies. He splits his time between Palo Alto and London.
HYSM changed its name to Huang Ybarra Gelberg & May with the addition of name partner Grant Gelberg. Previously an assistant U.S. attorney in Los Angeles in the major frauds department, Gelberg joined the firm in 2015 and focuses his practice on white-collar criminal defense, internal corporate investigations and litigation.
James Korzekwinski has joined U.S. Bank Wealth Management as managing director of private banking for Ascent Private Capital Management of U.S. Bank. Korzekwinski brings more than 20 years of experience in the financial services industry and previously was at Morgan Stanley, UBS Financial Services and John Hancock Life Insurance. He will be based in San Francisco.
Latham & Watkins elected 31 associates to partnership and 12 associates to counsel as of January 2018. In Century City, Rick Offsay and Laura Washington were named partners. In Los Angeles, Sean Denvir, and Josh Holt were named partners and Arash Aminian Baghai was named counsel. In San Francisco, Julie Crisp, Kirsten Ferguson, Marcy Priedeman and Gregory Sobolski were named partner, and Shivaun Cooney was named counsel. David D. Troutman in Orange County was also named counsel.
