SAN FRANCISCO — A federal jury convicted fallen real estate mogul Luke Brugnara on Tuesday, capping off a bizarre trial that matched a no-nonsense federal judge with a pro se defendant prone to outbursts that often seemed to undermine his own case.

The jury returned a guilty verdict on six of the government’s nine charges a day after U.S. District Judge William Alsup dismissed one of the original 12 jurors deliberating the case and replaced him with an alternate.
