Julie Brooks was named general counsel at South San Francisco-based Veracyte Inc., a molecular diagnostics company that went public in October. Brooks is the company’s first GC. She comes to Veracyte from Mountain View’s Conceptus Inc., a publicly traded medical device company focused on women’s health. See story online.

Sabrina Ross joined Apple as a privacy counsel. Ross is a 2009 graduate of Berkeley Law School and was previously an associate in the San Francisco office of Ropes & Gray.

LAW FIRMS

Kieran Kieckhefer joined McDermott Will & Emery‘s IP litigation group as a partner in the Silicon Valley office. She was previously with Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe. See story online.

Cecily O’Regan and William Cray joined Shartsis Friese as of counsel to launch a tech-focused patent prosecution practice in the firm’s San Francisco office. The two were previously with Greenberg Traurig. See story online.

Jean Doherty has joined Encino’s Horvitz & Levy as an associate. She was previously with Jenner & Block, and earlier in her career clerked for Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals Judge Richard Paez. She obtained her law degree from the University of Southern California.

Michael Caspino and a team from his former firm have joined with the Busch Firm to form Irvine’s Busch & Caspino, focusing on business, estate and tax planning and corporate real estate and business litigation as well as religious organizations and canon law.

Adriana Galindo and Andrew Russell joined Lathrop & Gage‘s Century City office as associates in the employment department. Galindo and Russell will handle matters primarily focused on wage and hour violations, employment discrimination, harassment, and retaliation claims. Galindo obtained her J.D. at Loyola Law School Los Angeles, while Russell graduated from UCLA School of Law.

Jenn French has joined San Diego’s Leventhal Law where she’ll continue her practice in complex commercial litigation, white collar defense and class action defense. French, who was previously with Cooley, obtained her law degree from the University of San Diego School of Law.

Kenneth Walczak will join Nassiri & Jung‘s Los Angeles and San Francisco offices, where he’ll continue his trial and appellate practice focused on class actions, appeals, consumer rights litigation, and trade secrets/intellectual property litigation. He was previously with Rosen Bien Galvan & Grunfeld and is a graduate of Harvard Law School.
