SAN FRANCISCO

Farella Braun & Martel added Dirk Mueller as a partner in its renewable energy and clean technologies practice group and real estate and land use department in San Francisco. He advises energy industry clients on project development, acquisition, disposition, financing, contract and real estate matters. He earned his J.D. from UC–Berkeley School of Law in 1993.

Emison Hullverson is adding three trial lawyers to its San Francisco office. Personal injury attorney Miles Cooper, currently with Rouda Feder Tietjen & McGuinn, will be joining as a partner on Jan. 2, 2014. Cooper graduated from University of San Francisco School of Law in 2000. Scott Wechsler, of the Law Offices of Scott Wechsler, will be joining as of counsel on Jan. 2, 2014 as well. He represents injured plaintiffs throughout California, particularly those with third party civil cases who have companion claims in the workers’ compensation system. Wechsler graduated from Cornell University Law School in 1981. Samuel Kim, a former assistant chief counsel with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and a former Marine Corps judge advocate, recently joined the firm as an associate. Kim graduated from Washington University School of Law in 2004.

Mintz, Levin, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky and Popeo has added Vipul Kumar, Mina Nasseri and Dominique Windberg as associates in its San Francisco office. Kumar joins the firm’s corporate and securities section. Prior to joining the firm, Kumar was an associate at Weil, Gotshal & Manges. He received his J.D. from Northwestern University. Nasseri and Windberg join the firm’s litigation section. Nasseri was formerly an associate at Latham & Watkins. She earned her J.D. from Columbia Law School. Prior to joining Mintz Levin, Windberg was an asso­ciate at Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan. She graduated from New York University School of Law.

Mintz, Levin, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky and Popeo has added Thomas Jackman and Jenna Shaffer as associates in its San Diego office. Jackman joins the firm’s intellectual property section. Prior to joining Mintz Levin, he was an associate at Irell & Manella. He earned his J.D. from UCLA School of Law. Shaffer joins the firm’s corporate and securities section. Previously, she served as junior corporate counsel for Innovus Pharmaceuticals. She received her J.D. from the University of San Diego.

Hopkins & Carley announced the elevations of Steven Braccini, Karen Reinhold and Dori Yob in the San Jose office and Darin Donovan and Laurie Look in the Palo Alto office to shareholder, effective Jan. 1, 2014. Braccini is a trial attorney who practices exclusively in the area of trust and estate litigation. He received his J.D. from Santa Clara University School of Law in 2003. Reinhold advises businesses on complex employment matters and also represents them in litigation related to those matters. She received her J.D. from Santa Clara University School of Law in 1982. Yob represents developers, real estate agents/brokers and individual property owners in disputes involving purchase and sale transactions, cases involving real estate investment fraud, partition actions and land use matters. She received her J.D. from Santa Clara University School of Law in 2003. Donovan counsels clients on estate planning, gift trust planning, charitable planning, post-mortem tax planning and nonprofit entity formation and counseling. He received his J.D. from UC–Berkeley School of Law in 1995. Look advises business professionals, venture capitalists and public company executives and directors, as well as their families, on estate planning, strategic wealth transfer, and management planning and estate and trust administration. She received her J.D. from the Santa Clara University School of Law in 1994.

Venable has elected Jennifer Nassiri to the partnership in its Los Angeles office, effective Jan. 1, 2014. As a member of the bankruptcy and creditors’ rights group, Nassiri focuses her practice on the representation of debtors-in-possession, secured and unsecured creditors, creditors’ committees and liquidating trustees. She graduated from Loyola Law School in 2000.

Blank Rome has promoted Cheryl Chang to partner in its Los Angeles office, effective Jan. 1, 2014. As a member of the corporate litigation group, Chang concentrates her practice on intellectual property, trade secret, antitrust and class action matters. She received her J.D. from UCLA School of Law and currently serves as president of the Taiwanese American Lawyers’ Association.

Dechert elevated Kahlil Yearwood to the partnership, effective Jan. 1, 2014. As a member of the finance and real estate group in San Francisco, he focuses his practice on commercial real estate finance, commercial real estate investments and capital markets. He received his J.D. from UC–Berkeley in 2005.
