PALO ALTO — As the Big Data industry booms, Kapow Software, a Palo Alto provider of information integration solutions, announced Wednesday that it has been acquired by Irvine's Kofax plc. Kapow was advised by a Silicon Valley-based Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman team.

Kofax, whose applications simplify information-intensive customer interactions, purchased Kapow for $47.5 million in cash, including certain milestone payments. As of June 30, 2013, Kapow reported revenues of $15.9 million. In recent years, it has signed on hundreds of customers, ranging from AstraZeneca to Audi to Thomson Reuters. They use the Kapow platform to harvest data and automate business processes, eliminating the need for complex coding or consulting.
