Ending months of speculation, Gov. Schwarzenegger on Friday threw his support behind Proposition 64, the November ballot measure that would restrict 17200 suits. The measure, which would make it harder to file unfair competition suits on behalf of the public, is supported by the Civil Justice Association of California, and large donations from automobile dealers, health care companies, Microsoft Corp., Oracle Corp., Nike Inc. and others. Prop 64 is opposed by plaintiff attorneys and environmental groups.
