Lewis Brisbois Bisgaard & Smith has responded to a lawsuit filed against it this week by a former partner, who accused the firm of discrimination and allegedly failing to accommodate him after surgery, and instead allegedly decreased his caseload and threatened to terminate his health benefits unless he worked a number of billable hours per week.

Robert Lofton, labor and employment attorney and former Lewis Brisbois partner, filed a 15-count complaint against the Am Law 200 firm in Los Angeles County Superior Court, alleging violations of discrimination based on disability and an actual or perceived medical condition, failure to accommodate, discrimination based on race, wrongful termination, and breach of contract, among others, according to the complaint.
