State bar leaders on Friday said they will ask lawmakers to approve a $150 licensing fee hike for lawyers in 2025 as well as an annual inflation adjustment that would trigger automatic fee increases in future years.

The 24% increase would raise active lawyers’ annual bill to $608 and pay for general bar operations as well as line items, including higher employee salary and benefit costs, new building lease payments in San Francisco, more hiring and a diversion program for lawyers charged with lower-level ethics violations.
