The First District Court of Appeal on Dec. 8 affirmed a trial court decision tossing a suit brought by San Francisco and Los Angeles prosecutors against law firm Potter Handy, a frequent filer of disability access lawsuits.

The unanimous three-justice panel held that California law shielding litigants from claims aired in a judicial proceeding immunized Potter Handy from prosecutors’ allegations under the Unfair Competition Law that the firm shakes down retailers through Americans With Disability Act suits.
