The California State Bar Court should not halt disciplinary proceedings against John Eastman solely because his former client, ex-President Donald Trump, was indicted this month on charges of attempting to block the 2020 presidential election count, the Office of Chief Trial Counsel argued in a filing made public Friday.

Eastman “is in the same situation now as he was when he previously decided to proceed with trial,” OCTC supervising attorney Duncan Carling wrote in a response to Eastman’s request for an abatement.
