Greg Jacob, the former counsel to then Vice President Mike Pence, linked John Eastman to the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol, telling a California state bar court Wednesday that protesters were motivated by publicized legal theories that Pence could block Joe Biden’s election.

“The people who marched on the Capitol believed the vice president had the authority to determine the validity of the electoral certificates” or the power to send those certificates back to state legislatures for reconsideration, Jacob said.
