As the number of COVID-19 cases in California subsides, civil jury trials, criminal trials and preliminary hearings will fully resume next week in the state’s largest superior court.

Presiding Judge Eric Taylor of the Los Angeles County Superior Court said Wednesday that he made the decision to ramp up operations as cases of the Omicron variant slide. The seven-day average of positive COVID tests in the county was 7.7% on Monday, down from a recent high of more than 20% at the start of the year, according to the Los Angeles County Public Health Department.
