California’s state bar announced Monday that it has retained a Los Angeles litigation boutique to investigate whether “anyone with ties to the state bar” committed malfeasance in handling past complaints against disgraced trial lawyer Tom Girardi.

Halpern May Ybarra Gelberg  will conduct the investigation. The announcement did not specify the scope or possible targets of the review, nor did it say when findings are expected. A state bar spokesman said no one from the bar would be conducting interviews on the matter.
