Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan is representing recording mogul Jay-Z in a right-of-publicity lawsuit against New York photographer Jonathan Mannion. The suit accuses Mannion, who was hired by Jay-Z in the 1990s to shoot publicity photos and album covers, of exploiting Jay-Z’s image for profit without the artist’s permission. The suit alleges that Mannion is demanding tens of millions of dollars to stop selling copies of the photographs. Counsel have not yet appeared for the defendants. The case is 2:21-cv-04848, Carter v. Mannion et al.
