Gov. Gavin Newsom will soon announce the creation of a judicial mentorship program for aspiring state judges, judicial appointments secretary Luis Céspedes said Tuesday.

Speaking to an online gathering of Latina lawyers, including several state lawmakers, Céspedes said lawyers with 10 years of bar membership will be eligible for the program, which will match those interested in judicial service with sitting judges around the state. Courts in Los Angeles and San Diego already have similar, local mentorship programs.
