A group of law deans from California, New York and New Jersey have asked the American Bar Association to add a second round of graduate employment data collection in June, citing recent delays in bar exam results.
A Feb. 10 letter signed by 33 law deans to administrators in the ABA’s Section of Legal Education and Admissions to the Bar argues that adhering to the typical March 15 date for entry-level jobs reporting will omit a portion of graduates who took longer to find work because they were waiting to see if they passed the bar exam. Instead, the deans suggest an initial March 15 reporting period, followed by a second round of data collection reflecting employment rates as of June 15.
