Gov. Gavin Newsom on Tuesday reached into the ranks of public-sector and nonprofit lawyers in the East Bay to find three new judges for the Alameda County Superior Court.

Sharon Djemal, Keith Kern Fong and David Pareda will fill vacancies created by retirements on the Alameda County bench. They are among 12 trial court judges appointed to courts around the state Tuesday.
