California lawyers would see their annual licensing fees cut by $34 in 2021 under legislation passed by the Assembly Judiciary Committee on Monday.

The bill, AB 3362, would also prohibit the bar’s board of trustees from going behind closed doors to discuss general issues about the bar exam’s administration. The proposed law change follows trustees’ decision last month to debate the future of the July 2020 bar exam privately, frustrating law school students, deans and some lawyers who wanted to track the decision-making process.
