Foley & Lardner brought on Lewis Zirogiannis as partner in its litigation department and government enforcement defense and investigations practice group. Zirogiannis handles matters related to complex litigation and government and internal investigations and compliance. He previously worked at Reed Smith and will split his time between Foley's San Francisco and New York offices.
The San Francisco office of Axinn Veltrop & Harkrider expanded with the addition of two new lawyers. Jeannine Sano, who focuses her practice on intellectual property, patents and technology, joins as partner. Eric Krause also joins as partner and focuses on IP, patents and technology in addition to trade secret, trademark and copyright matters. Sano joins the firm from White & Case, and Krause joins from Fenwick & West.
Former Katten Muchin Rosenman attorney Cynthia Brittain is now a partner in Baker & Hostetler. Brittain will be a part of the firm's private wealth team, where she will advise high-net-worth families on cross-border planning and sophisticated domestic wealth transfer strategies. She is based in Costa Mesa.
NoonanLance promoted Genevieve M. Ruch to partner of its legal team. Based in San Diego, Ruch focuses her practice on business, civil and major securities litigation. She also has experience with financial services litigation and IP litigation.
The California Appellate Law Group added Johanna Schiavoni as counsel in its San Diego office. Prior to joining the boutique firm, Schiavoni ran the Law Office of Johanna S. Schiavoni. She is a certified specialist in appellate law and handles a range of high-stakes appellate matters.
Jones Day announced that it appointed several attorneys to leadership positions within the firm. Karen Hewitt is now regional partner-in-charge of California, David DiMeglio is partner-in-charge of Los Angeles, Steve Geise is partner-in-charge of San Diego, Erin Burke is administrative partner for California, and Tamera Weisser is administrative partner for San Diego.
Clark Hill absorbed the Law Offices of Carl Shusterman, a Los Angeles-based boutique firm, adding five lawyers to its immigration practice. Carl Shusterman joins as senior counsel, Angeline Chen and Cheryl Gertler join as senior attorneys, and Jennifer Cohn Rozdzielski and Lorraine Tong join as associates. Clark Hill also brought on six paralegals and support staff from the Law Offices of Carl Shusterman.
Legal technology company InCloudCounsel appointed Mitch Spierer as vice president of product. Prior to joining InCloudCounsel, Spierer was director of product at health care technology company Doximity. He is based in San Francisco.
Retired U.S. Magistrate Judge Suzanne H. Segal of the Central District of California is now a mediator, arbitrator, discovery referee and special master with Los Angeles-based Signature Resolution. She will resolve matters related to patent, trademark, copyright, employment, civil rights, torts, commercial and insurance disputes. Her 18 years serving as judge include four years of serving as chief magistrate judge.
Greg Cheng, a shareholder in Ogletree, Deakins, Nash, Smoak & Stewart's San Francisco office, was elected to the firm's board of directors. Cheng focuses his practice on management-side labor and employment law. Cheng serves as chair of Ogletree Deakins' Asian American attorneys business resource group and as a member of the firm's San Francisco office hiring committee.
A team of five attorneys from Lewis Brisbois Bisgaard & Smith joined Hanson Bridgett. Claire Hervey Collins joins as partner, Paul Beck and Beth Hummer join as counsel, Laura Ratcliffe joins as an attorney, and Julian Viksman joins as a staff attorney. All five lawyers have experience with real estate law and join Hanson Bridgett's Los Angeles office.
Celeste Brecht was named co-chair of Venable's West Coast litigation group. In her new position, she will work alongside Daniel P. Hoffer. Brecht is a partner in Venable's Los Angeles office. She represents clients in the pharmaceutical, health care, consumer products, media and entertainment, and transportation industries in complex civil disputes.

Clark Hill members Vincent Roskovensky and Kevin B. Watson have entered appearances for Architectural Steel and Associated Products in a pending environmental lawsuit. The complaint, filed Aug. 27 in Pennsylvania Eastern District Court by Brodsky & Smith on behalf of Hung Trinh, accuses the defendant of discharging polluted stormwater from its steel facility without a permit in violation of the Clean Water Act. The suit, filed Sept. 6 in California Southern District Court, by Girard Sharp and the Hall Firm, contends that the offering materials and related oral communications contained untrue statements of material fact. According to the complaint, the defendants made a series of misrepresentations about Orthofix’s disclosure controls and internal controls over financial reporting and ethical compliance. Attorneys from Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft and Pryor Cashman have entered appearances for Diageo Americas Supply d/b/a Ciroc Distilling Co. and Sony Songs, a division of Sony Music Publishing, respectively, in a pending lawsuit. The case was filed Sept. 10 in New York Southern District Court by the Bloom Firm and IP Legal Studio on behalf of Dawn Angelique Richard. The plaintiff, who performed as a member of producer Sean 'Diddy' Combs girl group Danity Kane and later his band, Diddy - Dirty Money, claims that she was financially exploited by Combs and subjected to inhumane working conditions. Among other violations, Richard claims that Combs required group members to remain at his residences and studios, deprived them of adequate food and sleep and forced them to rehearse for 36 to 48 hours without breaks. Belcher-Timme of Doherty, Wallace, Pillsbury & Murphy, have stepped in to defend Peter Pan Bus Lines in a pending consumer class action. The suit, filed Sept. 4 in Massachusetts District Court by Hackett Feinberg PC and KalielGold PLLC, accuses the defendant of charging undisclosed 'junk fees' on top of ticket prices during checkout.
