Fisher & Phillips Philadelphia partner Rick Grimaldi served as moderator for the Consero Health Care General Counsel Forum in Austin, Texas. The panel, titled “Tackling the Biggest Labor and Employment Challenges Facing Health Care Organizations Today,” ­featured vice presidents, general counsels, legal officers and human resources executives from several hospitals and health systems who discussed best practices, regulations and agreements for wage-and-hour and discrimination litigation, trainings, the National Labor Relations Board, salary exemptions and more. Grimaldi is the chair of the Fisher Phillips government solutions practice group. His national practice spans all aspects of labor and employment law including regularly representing employers in litigation matters involving discrimination claims and wrongful termination claims.


At this year’s New Jersey Association for Justice Meadowlands seminar, Cohen, Placitella & Roth’s Jared Placitella is set to co-chair “Trends for Millennial Litigators,” which is presented by the new lawyers section. Placitella, an associate at the firm, is a 2013 graduate of The George Washington University Law School. He is admitted to practice before the state courts of New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and in the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey.


Past Pennsylvania Bar Association president and Philadelphia attorney Michael H. Reed is set to be honored with the inaugural C. Dale McClain Quality of Life/Balance Award at Committee/Section Day in Harrisburg on Nov. 16. Reed is special counsel and former partner at Pepper Hamilton, where he practices bankruptcy and insolvency law as a member of the firm’s corporate restructuring and bankruptcy practice group. A founding member of the PBA Minority Bar Committee, Reed has been dedicated to improving the quality of practice and life/balance for all attorneys, especially those who are diverse, through his work with this committee, as well as its Minority Attorney Conference. Additionally, Reed has served as a ­mentor to countless attorneys, sharing his personal knowledge about the practice of law and balancing a successful career with one’s personal life. Reed currently chairs the American Bar Association Standing Committee on the American judicial system subcommittee on federal courts and is the state delegate for Pennsylvania in the ABA House of Delegates.


Both attorneys and staff from Weber Gallagher Simpson Stapleton Fires & Newby’s Philadelphia and Mount Laurel, New Jersey, offices made dinner and served it at the Ronald McDonald House of Southern New Jersey in early October. The Ronald McDonald House located in Camden, New Jersey, provides a home away from home to families of seriously ill and traumatically injured children who are being treated at nearby hospitals.
