Locks Law Firm senior partner Marc Weingarten served as a lecturer and on an international panel at Pan European Organisation of Personal Injury Lawyers‘ 20th annual conference in London.

Weingarten gave a lecture on ways European lawyers can use jurisdictions in the United States to their advantage ­focusing on jurisdiction, venue and forum non conveniens.

He also was part of an international panel presentation with lawyers from Holland, Spain and Northern Ireland on the topic of mediation in personal injury cases.

With over 170 attendees from 23 ­countries, this year’s conference focused on “Personal Injury—Challenges Ahead.”

Weingarten joined the Locks Law Firm in 1978 and has been a partner since 1983.

He focuses his practice on complex ­personal injury litigation.

He has represented plaintiffs in ­products liability and class action claims involving asbestos, defective pharmaceutical ­products and devices, flammable fabrics, defective machinery, insurance industry irregularities and more.

Stradley Ronon Stevens & Young counsel Jana M. Landon was a discussion ­facilitator at The Sedona Conference working group on data security and privacy liability midyear meeting in San Diego on Sept. 18.

Landon’s panel, “Law Firm Data Security,” focused on issues relating to data questionnaires directed to law firms and reasonable practices for protecting client data.

The meeting provided an opportunity for working group members to provide commentary on matters including data security and privacy issues in civil litigation, law firm data security, privilege in the data security litigation context, reasonable or unreasonable data security measures and legal issues in cloud computing.

Landon is co-chair of the firm’s cyber insurance and data breach response groups.

Her practice focuses on advising ­lawyers and clients on data security and data management issues and legal, technical and strategic issues regarding information governance.

She also represents clients in complex insurance coverage matters.

Elected and Appointed

Trish Lilley, chief marketing and business development officer at Fox Rothschild, was named 2018 president-elect of the Legal Marketing Association‘s Northeast regional governing board.

Lilley, who currently serves as sponsorship director, is set to assume the role of president in 2019.

Lilley oversees the firm’s marketing and business development function.

She collaborates with the legal ­recruiting, human resources and professional development departments to identify, adopt and implement best practices for lateral ­orientation and integration and business development strategy and support.

She supervises a team of business ­development managers who support and coach attorneys in their client development efforts.

Justice Rising Advocates, a group of young professionals dedicated to furthering the mission of Community Legal Services, held its annual reception at Saltz Mongeluzzi Barrett & Bendesky.
