The Revised Uniform Law on Notarial Acts (RULONA) takes effect in Pennsylvania on Oct. 26. Approved by the Uniform Law Commission in 2010, RULONA modernizes and clarifies the law governing notaries public, their ­responsibilities and duties, and addresses the notarization of all records, whether on paper or electronic. RULONA has been enacted in Colorado, Idaho, Iowa, Montana, North Dakota, Oregon, Washington, and West Virginia. It has been introduced for consideration in the state legislatures of Georgia, Kentucky, Minnesota, New Jersey, Rhode Island and Vermont.
