The ongoing quest for pay equity and other workplace equality issues for women remain highly visible across the employment world, but perhaps nowhere are the challenges (and opportunities) more visible than in the practice of law. As we begin to approach the first quarter mark of the 21st century, women in law have unprecedented power and influence but continue to struggle for equal representation in the traditionally male-dominated profession.

At the same time, the nature of the legal profession and its heavy reliance on not only skills but also social networks means that women in law typically have more avenues through which to address the imbalances they face. In the Philadelphia region, there are various professional forums available to women who want to advance their careers. One such vehicle is the Philadelphia Bar Association and in particular, its bench bar and annual conference.
