Three judges are set to be temporarily reassigned to the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas family division from other sections of the First Judicial District in order to deal with a backlog of child custody cases.
John W. Herron, administrative judge of the trial division, said the state Supreme Court has approved a recommendation to immediately transfer three trial division judges to the family division. Though no specific judges have yet been named, one is expected to be transferred from the civil division while two are expected to come from the criminal section.
