Today is Election Day in Pennsylvania. You may not realize it, given it wasn’t a very exciting campaign cycle (in terms of the low profile of the races) in this odd-numbered year, but there was still the usual share of cable television ads, mailers and letters to the editor extolling the virtues of one candidate or condemning the record of the other.

As a professional communicator, I am always tuned into the strategies deployed by the different campaigns in order to secure votes; I also appreciate that campaigns can teach all of us in business many lessons. This is certainly true for the legal profession, whether you’re an associate looking to bring in a bigger book of business to your firm or working as counsel on the inside of an organization that has a product, service or issue to market.
