Richard Maurer, a principal of Maurer/Song, is scheduled to give a presentation June 27 in Krakow, Poland, titled "U.S. Courts for EU Claimants — What to Expect and What to Watch Out for."

The program aims to provide Polish lawyers with a basic understanding of U.S. federal and state court procedures, with an emphasis on Philadelphia practice.

Bill Lynch of the Law Offices of William H. Lynch Jr. is set to present at the Gloucester County, N.J., Legal Education Association CLE seminar June 22.

He will be speaking on the topic, "An Overview of Pa. Workers' Compensation Law for New Jersey Practitioners."

Elected and Appointed

Kenneth L. Shropshire joined Major League Baseball's On-Field Diversity Task Force.

The task force was created to address the talent pipeline that impacts the representation and development of diverse players and on-field personnel in Major League Baseball, particularly African-Americans.

Shropshire is a sports business and legal expert at both the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and Duane Morris.

James Nixon was accepted into the Pennsylvania Bar Association's Bar Leadership Institute class of 2013-14.

Nixon is a staff attorney for the Pennsylvania Superior Court.

John F. Murphy of Woodcock Washburn co-authored the fourth edition of the book Patent Litigation and Strategy.

The book sets out the statutes and rules for patent litigation while using cases and court documents to develop and explain winning strategies.

The other authors are Judge Kimberly A. Moore of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and Timothy R. Holbrook, associate dean of faculty and professor of law at Emory University School of Law.

Murphy focuses his IP practice on patent, copyright, trademark and trade secret litigation in a variety of technology areas. •
