Hartford, Conn.-based Twin City Fire Insurance Co. has sued Valley Forge, Pa.-based Chartwell Law Offices, seeking a declaratory judgment that it does not have a duty to indemnify the firm against malpractice claims brought by five fire companies and arising out of litigation related to the 2001 fire in Bridgeport, Montgomery County.

In a 14-page complaint filed September 14 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, Twin City alleges that it has no duty to cover Chartwell because, at the inception of its policy with the firm, the firm was “aware of the alleged acts, errors, omission, facts, circumstances or other information from which they could have reasonably foreseen the malpractice claim.”
