Two Japanese automotive parts suppliers have agreed to pay a combined $548 million in criminal fines for their roles in price-fixing and bid-rigging conspiracies in the sale of products to automobile manufacturers in the United States.

Top Justice Department antitrust officials on Monday said Yazaki Corp. will pay $470 million for the scheme, marking the second-largest criminal fine for an antitrust violation. DENSO Corp. agreed to pay $78 million. DOJ officials called the investigation the largest criminal probe the Justice Department antitrust division has ever pursued.
