Andrew Speaker has a drug resistant form of tuberculosis that could become contagious. Speaker is a 31 year-old lawyer from Georgia. He recently traveled to Europe for his wedding and honeymoon. Although, the Fulton County, Georgia Health Director admitted that his agency did not restrict Speaker’s travel, Speaker was informed in Europe, by the Center for Disease Control that “he must not fly.”
According to the USA Today, when Speaker requested the government provide him with an air ambulance to return home, he was told he’d have to pay the costs of up to $140,000.
