Attorney General Josh Shapiro on July 26 announced an $8 million agreement with Wawa to resolve a December 2019 data breach that compromised approximately 34 million payment cards used across all Wawa stores.

Shapiro, along with acting New Jersey Attorney General Matthew Platkin, led a coalition of seven attorneys general in investigating the breach. According to a statement from Shapiro’s office, it is the third largest credit card breach settlement achieved by state attorneys general.
