Alternative dispute resolution options are growing in popularity among families navigating divorce. Often, in my family law practice, I help clients negotiate a resolution to their case and resolve matters without litigation.

However, the number of clients I have taking full advantage of the collaborative law process is still relatively low. If the positive elements of the collaborative process were better understood, I believe more families would select this option for resolving marital dissolution in a fair, respectful, efficient and cost-effective way. Misconceptions about the process also can steer attorneys away from obtaining collaborative certification and advocating the process.
