A construction injury lawsuit has settled for more than $1 million after two years of what counsel for the plaintiff described as delayed talks due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to Ostroff Injury Law attorney Richard Godshall, the lawsuit, which involved a 62-year-old laborer suffering two back fractures after a temporary traffic signal fell on him, languished in mediation throughout the pandemic without a serious offer from the two target defendants. However, Godshall said serious settlement talks got underway within 48 hours of the case coming before Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas Judge Linda Carpenter.
