Three days behind schedule and with a cellphone in place of a Bible, Judge Carolyn Carluccio was sworn in as Montgomery County’s new president judge Monday.

The unconventional ceremony marked the first swearing-in of a Montgomery County president judge to occur outside of the county’s courthouse, and in taking her oath of office, Carluccio became the first woman to assume the role.
