In 2019, Thel led his team to a remarkable platform of success representing his clients in more than 20 transactions, with an impressive aggregate deal value in excess of $1.1 billion. He served as lead transaction counsel in connection with four significant sell-side engagements, he guided a regional private equity fund in its acquisition of the nation’s largest independent provider of preventative maintenance and repair services for uninterruptible power systems and he was selected to lead the deal team for the first platform acquisition completed by a newly raised private equity fund. As lead counsel, Thel successfully guides his clients through all aspects of the transaction process and routinely provides ongoing integration and general corporate advice following a transaction’s completion.

What is the top quality that you’ve used to succeed in the profession? My willingness to take a practical approach to transactions is certainly one of the qualities that has helped me succeed. Although M&A work is inherently complex, an effective dealmaker understands the client’s business and is able to add value by appropriately evaluating transaction risk and creatively solving problems for clients. Clients appreciate having deal counsel that is focused on furthering their business objectives and is capable of efficiently representing their interest in successfully (and quickly) closing transactions.
