Ever since the founder of Malhotra Law Firm was deported to Canada in early May, a former Malhotra associate and the West Texas plaintiff’s firm have been competing for the firm’s clients.

Rachel Ambler resigned from Malhotra Law Firm in Odessa in April, shortly before founder Rahul Malhotra was deported after pleading guilty in federal court to a felony criminal charge of making false statements to authorities. Since then, about 25 to 30 clients of the firm have asked her to continue to represent them at her new firm, AmblerLaw. But on May 9, Malhotra and Malhotra Law Firm sued Ambler and AmblerLaw, alleging they have tortiously interfered with their relationship with their clients.
