Initially, the hedge fund, Highland Capital Management, sued the lawyer, Patrick Daugherty.
Highland Capital sued Looper Reed & McGraw alleging the firm "knowingly disregarded Texas Disciplinary Rules of Professional Conduct" and "committed a series of criminal acts in an attempt to extort Highland."
