On June 23, the city of Dallas agreed to pay $30,000 to an emergency services dispatcher who claimed she was sexually harassed on the job. Helen Watts claimed that a fellow dispatcher at Dallas Fire-Rescue Department sexually harassed her over a four-year period. She claimed she made repeated complaints to her superiors and the city’s human resources department that were not investigated. In retaliation for her complaints, she was transferred to another position that offered less opportunity to earn overtime pay, she claimed. As part of the settlement, the city returned Watts to her previous position.
