Shearman & Sterling has spoken with multiple law firms for a potential merger, including Texas-based Baker Botts, according to two sources familiar with the talks.
While Baker Botts' managing partner would not comment on merger talks with Shearman or any other firm, he said his firm is "opportunistic" and "open-minded to ideas on how to strengthen the firm.”
