Chief Judge Bobby Reeves of Georgia’s Middle Judicial Circuit Superior Court chose not to wear a mask while presiding over jury selection in a Toombs County criminal case Monday—an apparent violation of an order issued by the chief justice of the Supreme Court of Georgia.

Reeves, along with fellow Superior Court Judge Tommy Smith and several other court personnel, didn’t wear masks or wore them intermittently during several hours of jury selection Monday. That’s despite a warning from Chief Justice Harold Melton that judges across the state must strictly enforce mask-wearing protocols for everyone appearing in their courts to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
