While chief legal officers are still a rarity for American cannabis companies, their Canadian counterparts are already lighting up. Ontario-based medical marijuana company Aphria Inc. is the latest to announce its first CLO.

Christelle Gedeon will be the company’s new legal leader starting June 1. Gedeon is currently a partner at Fasken, where she’s focused on a number of products regulated under Canada’s Food and Drugs Act, including cannabis.
