In the years following the Great Recession, the percentage of Am Law 200 firms with a two-tier partnership structure, divided between an equity and nonequity class of partners, compared to those with a single-tier partnership, comprising only equity partners, has remained relatively unchanged. Since 2010, the number of firms with single-tier partnerships has held steady at approximately 15% of Am Law 200 firms (Figure 1).
