For most players in the Big Law market, laterals are currency. In an ALM Legal Intelligence/Group Dewey Consulting study, 96% of firms identified hiring lateral lawyers as either “very important” or “moderately important” to their revenue growth strategies. This sentiment is borne out in the number of moves by Am Law 200 partners in recent years, reaching a high of 2,890 in FY15, according to the annual ALM Legal Intelligence/American Lawyer Lateral Report.
